WAYS TO RESEARCH A SITE
WAYS TO RESEARCH A SITE
Here are some ways to research a site:
- The number one, and easiest way to research a site is through GOOGLE. In your search, type in the sites name and see what you see. Go through as many pages on the search as you can withstand. If nothing bad shows up...try the site name with the word "SCAM". Example:
DingoBux Scam
If a site is a scam, the search should show any site that has those words showing on that particular page.
Also if a link is no longer existing or it wont load, try clicking on the Google "Cache". Sometimes google will show the webpage that google bot picked up.
- Another google tool is Google Image search. You will be surprised what you find. You might find screen shots of a site or some interesting pictures.
- Another way is through Whois. For those that don't know, Whois is the collection of info from when a site is registered or created. Some times you can find some info about the owner. Some PTC sites have the Whois guarded or protected. Probably means they are hiding something.
In my oppinion, the best site to do a Whois search is Robtex. When the site loads in the top of the page enter the site's name + .com
Example:
DingoBux.com
Do not enter the http:// or you will get an error.
Once you enter the site info, a link will show in between the google banners. Click on it. The site info should load. What you will get is a page with a bunch of tabs. Domain info, Whois info, Shared, contact info, and other tabs. The important ones you want to look at is the Whois, Shared, and contact.
Look at the contact info. If it gives you a gmail email address, hotmail address, or some other personal email addresss...google search that entire email address. See what comes up.
If you get a name in the who is info, google search that name and add PTC with that name.
Also, on Robtex under shared look for "domains sharing nameservers". If you see more than one site under that section. That means the owner has more than one PTC/site and it is linked to your site that you are researching.
If that happens, research those sites as well through google. And if any of them come back as scams, then you can pretty much count on this site being a scam as well.
- Take note, that some sites are sold off. Especially when they start failing. There are a couple sites out there that offer online autions of these sites. Here is one of those sites
- Youtube is another great way to research a site. On youtube search enter the site name and see what it comes up. Sometimes you will have videos about "auto clickers" or "cheats" meaning your site that you searched has a huge autoclicker problem. Which can be a big problem for a PTC site.
- PTC forums are also a great way to find info about a site. And to get feedback from current members. There are many out there. Here is a popular one
- Also there are a few sites that archive web pages. Lets say you have a site linked to a ptc site that is no longer up and running, and you need to know what that site looked like and what the layout was. Cause some PTC site owners will stick to the same layout. You may be able to find your site in these archives. Here is a great place to look:
